I Have Arranged to shoulder carry a heavier, female rider, than myself

I am tall and slim, and am going to shoulder carry a heavier, female rider, than myself!

Quite some time ago My bestest friend was telling me of her weight ;76kg !" (167.lbs)
  then again very recently, at 81kg (178.lbs).  she explains; "Im heavier than you now!" [Although she was heavier than when she first mentioned it, as I am only 73kg (160.lbs]
Using this as an opening topic to shoulder riding, i aksed her;   "I bet i still can shoulder carry you! when the weather clears, may I see if i can give you a shoulder ride?, !"
She said OK! It was a rainy night & she was getting in her car to go home, so
I suggested "next time, on the grass across the road, & up to the top of the park?"
"OK" she said.
    I beleive i am strong enough, and i do squats etc regularly to keep in-practice.
    What do you think?; Do you have any suggestions to add to my future experience? What would you do to make it more interesting?

that sound unbelievably fun.  I have always carried petite ladies, never got to carry anyone who really weighed down on me i would love that.  If I were you i would carry her without a shirt.  I would squat down, let her sit one me and lift her up like you are doing a squat and carry away, if you do squats you wont have a problem.  wow does that sound like fun...

Re: I Have Arranged to shoulder carry a heavier, female rider, than myself

And so it came to pass, that along came the day where she allowed me to give her the Shoulder Ride!
2 days ago we went over the park with her dog. We soon got onto the subject of the planned shoulder-lift experiment, so we went into the kids play area.
First she climbed up a few rungs of the 'monkey bars' asking;
"from here?"
I said
"no, from the ground"
"Really?, That's a Heavy lift!"
"Yeah, well it'd be cheating otherwise, the whole point is; the lift from the ground!"
So she stepped back down,  I squatted down as low as I could without kneeling. She proceeded to swing her leg over, and then the other. It was at this point I realised that her feet were not going to be reaching the ground now. I previously thought they would, and that she'd be supporting her own weight until I stood up. My heels were firmly against my bottom with the pressure of her on top. I didn't have enough time to worry about this obvious load before I attempted to lift. [I had previously been in training for this by doing squats, not with weights, but centring my own weight over one leg at a time] While she held onto a pole for balance, I used my hands on my knees to assist lifting. This was a strong 4 seconds to stand up. She made noises of concern. I stood still for her to gain steadiness. There was no mention of achievement, instead the issue of balance. I held onto her ankles and proceeded to take a few steps away from the bars where I felt her struggle with her balance again. I stood firm to allow this but strangely with a few jolts and clamping my head with the thighs. I could feel trouble approaching so I descended quickly so that she could step off. She said;
"sorry for choking you" not that I noticed this. We were on the soft bark-chip covered ground, so there was no worry of hurt. She was ready for another attempt! I am 74kg and she now 78. it was a good strong forceful lift but I don't recall it as a strain or uncomfortable. Maybe another 6 or 7 kg would have been the safe limit. Anyhow; this time while she was seated on my shoulders I walked around the monkey-bars close enough for her to hold-on if necessary. We went around twice, it was very easy, I had planned to take her around the park but for her terrible balance risk. . She held on to the pole again as I lowered to the crouching position which was still not low enough, so I went forward onto my hands and knees as she rolled onto my back while giggling because of her rolling sideways still holding the pole which was now badly positioned. It was all fun tho!

Unfortunately it was only a short distance ride, yet still 100% better than no ride! I suffered no next-day soreness anywhere, and am happy to conclude that it is possible to carry one heavier than myself!

Congratulations Greg ! Not only for the performance, but, more importantly for having created the opportunity ! I hope Your rider will come to like SR too, enough at least to allow you then to test your endurance ... : First carry Her to Her car ... Then She'll park a little further away ... Then carry Her all the way back home .... smile

btw how far is Her home ?

Re: I Have Arranged to shoulder carry a heavier, female rider, than myself

Hi, I am back again. Just keeping up appearances....
That friend [mentioned above] lives too far away now  for more activity, but a few days ago i was walking with another female friend. When we came to the very steep hill near her house, she made a noise of exertion, then I went behind her, leant forward and pushed her from the waist, up the hill. She is not heavier than me tho, possibly only 56kg [123 lbs], and 5'7"
She said;
" Oh!, that's better!"
I enquired; "even with me leaning my [upper body] weight on your legs?"
"Yeah"
"Oh good, it works for both of us!"
Then i was daring enough to say;
"I want to give you a shoulder ride one day!?"
,,,when she responded with the word;
"Kooell"    ! ! !!
I thought to my self; OMG! OMG! Not wanting to show any fanaticism i thought best to keep this topic minimalist tonight. I finished by mentioning a likely place that we may do that, where she gestured with an agreeable laugh.
I will have to suggest that next time we go for a walk that perhaps today we could do the shoulder ride, & we dont take the dog as it will be a bit awkward with the lead and around other dogs, etc.
    Assuming she is OK with the public space, this may be quite possible.
   Can anyone suggest a back-up plan? Maybe if she shows reluctance we could reserve the activity for the same place after dark!!?
There can become a fine balance between obeying a request to let the rider down -  and wanting to make it last longer. I think the memory of a fun ride that was not forced, may increase chances of another carry another time!?
  Wish me luck please, then i will have more for you to read soon!

You could always apply for a licence as a fork-lift driver-then you would have no trouble in getting her on to your shoulders.

Lets have more personal info please

Wow, I wish you didn't leave so far away.

I'd love to shoulder ride you xx

Those words mean 100% more when they come from one whom already has the  S.R passion, than when it's all the pony's idea!

Do you share your interesst [ to talk about] with any of your friends?
Do you have any rels/ friends in AU that you could put  in the-good-word for me? ;-)
Please search my other posts &/or perhaps email me so we can chat about what drives us!?
