I've just accessed Ultimate Shoulder Rides after months of trying to gain access. So Hello everybody! Nick please cancel the email I just sent you - I'm here now! I just want to say I regularly shoulder ride male ponies. Although I am happy to shoulder ride any female ponies if there are any around. I'm 75 kilos (154 pounds) so not too heavy.
Welcome. You'll probably be more successful finding rides (if that's what you are looking for) if you add a bit more information. Like: where do you live (or frequently visit) where you'd want to find rides? And how do potential ponies contact you?

Oh, sorry- you do have a contact address.

Yes, it's helpful if members state where they live and whether they are riders or carriers. I am on the south coast of England opposite the western tip of the Isle of Wight. Across the channel is France. For those in the USA and elsewhere in the world, England is a small island off the north west coast of the European mainland. I ride on a guys shoulders regularly and I have a good sense of balance. I prefer outdoor rides but somewhere secluded. If any carriers are looking for an experienced shoulder jockey then please contact me, particularly any living in or visiting England.
Well done,at last it seems to be getting through,IF YOU WANT RIDES<THEN YOU MUST SUPPLY CONTACT INFORMATION.
Its the same as using the phone,no number NO CONTACT.

To get back to the serious subject of shoulder-riding, this last Monday morning (08 February 2016) I had a 1/2 day off work and had a fantastic shoulder-ride on a big guy's shoulders.
He was taller and weighed much more than me. I am not that tall (about average) and not that weighty (below the average weight for a guy my age because I'm athletic) but I did enjoy riding around on the shoulders of a heavy guy (and bossing him too!)
Do members have any preferences about the kind of guys (or females) they shoulder-ride? Do you like to ride on the shoulders of small weak guys maybe? Or do you prefer big heavyweight guys? Lastly, is it acceptable for guys to ride on the shoulders of females?
I'm back on this Forum under my old username (checkmateguy). I could not access this Forum for several months as my original password did not work neither did any of the other passwords that the administrator sent me. But I did gain access again by using a new username (Love2Ride). Nick has now kindly sorted this problem out. So I can now use my original username (checkmateguy).
Just to return to the subject of shoulder-riding. What I have recently found surprising is that quite a few guys who have never carried a rider on their shoulders before need to be trained and taught how to carry a guy (or female rider).
I have suspected that to be the case for some time now. I had always assumed that some guys who I have shoulder-rode in past years were not that good because of lack of strength. But I now realise that they were/are unfamiliar with walking around with a guy sat astride their shoulders. Previously I had always assumed that a person (e.g. a pony-guy) could/would do that naturally without any difficulty but this does not always seem to be the case. So sometimes riders need to be aware that they might have to give a potential pony-guy (or pony-girl) some training in how to carry a person on their shoulders.
In future I won't just jump on a guy's shoulders and heel him in the ribs and expect him to carry me like a well trained horse. In actual fact some first time pony guys even need to be trained in how to lift a rider up onto their shoulders. This is basis stuff of course but it's amazing how some big muscle-bound guys don't even know how to do that.
Last Monday when riding (breaking in actually!) a new pony guy I had to take the leather belt off my jeans and sit there astride his shoulders wacking the guy's buttocks repeatedly. Rather brutal training maybe but it seemed to work!

You are so lucky Checkmate guy..you get so many Ponies.
And you Ride Outside.
Here down in India, finding a Rider seems impossible.
As a horse I can say if someone can train me for rides, there is nothing better than that.
The whole riding experience gets more enjoyable and memorable.
I am now tired of paying to be ridden...getting a lot of toll on my wallet.

Checkmateguy- welcome back! disciplining a mount absolutely has it's place- both to punish unacceptable behavior and to enforce training. It's not the training itself, though. What sort of training do you find that new ponies need?

Reply to Trigger: you need to look for a dominant person as your rider (male or female). That means looking in the right place. I was told about a website today (I'm not a member and haven't even looked at it) but it's called fetlife (I think it's short for fetish life). You might have success there - maybe.
Reply to manbackrider: like I said, I always thought that as a shoulder-rider you can just get on a pony-guy's or pony-girl's shoulders and ride the pony. But this is often not the case. You've heard of dumb animals, yes? Well, there seems to be dumb humans too. Surprisingly, some human ponies have to be taught/trained in how to give a shoulder-rider a ride. Like the big guy I rode on Monday of this week. He was physically able to carry me but he had to be 'incentivised.' Alternative words for incentivised are 'motivated,' 'compelled,' 'ordered,' and so on. Like I said too, several whacks with a broad leather belt across the pony-guy's buttocks seemed to work. The other thing you could do as a shoulder-rider if you find yourself sat astride the shoulders of an inexperience or novice human pony is to just sit there and do your best to encourage the 'beast of burden' to carry you and give you the ride you need and deserve. Personally, I prefer to use the stick rather than a carrot - and a stick is cheaper!

Hi Trigger, you know you'll get a lot of male riders willing to ride you free of cost. I think you should try and be more open to lifting and carrying guys as well, without imposing any limitations. Once you get used to it, it can be very enjoyable.

checkmateguy:
Welcome back and I hope you don't mind my interjection here.
I completely agree with your premise, including your "using a stick rather than a carrot" euphemism.
The consensual participation of the carrier shouldn't alter the relative status of the rider to his/her beast of burden. The positioning of this partnership alone implies the superiority of the rider and by that the authority to demand compliance to the degree that the previous relationship (if any) between them would have established.
This at the very least would include positioning the carrier so that you are comfortably supported when sitting on him and that the duration of the ride/activity should be at the discretion of the rider.
I believe that corrective measures to ensure the enjoyment and satisfaction of the rider are completely acceptable if kept within the limits of the relationship , and those limits should be determined by the rider if not previously established. Certainly the use of kicks, riding crops or an improvised leather strap would be considered reasonable.

My experience with shoulder riding began with giving my older sister shoulder rides and piggyback rides. I asked her as a joke if she'd want a shoulder ride or piggyback ride then before I knew it, she either sat on my shoulders for a shoulder ride or jumped on my back for a piggyback ride. I still do from time to time, and my nieces as well. It was just always so much fun to me. Shortly afterwards, my nieces saw what was happening and wanted me to do the same for them. I enjoy doing the same for them as well.
