Here are some fantastic videos from Malta. They really have a great tradition of shoulderriding when celebrating. There are many more to be found. I only chose some with exceptional good quality:

Do anybody know what type of events that are? Most of the people wear always identical T-shirts. Are that teams of some type?

I spoke with some from Malta who told me that this is an annual event in mid-August called the Santa Maria Festival (honoring Mary Mother of Jesus). Apparently Malta is heavily Roman Catholic. It is a three day festival. Blue and while are official colors, hence the shirts. She said people from around Europe attend as a part of their summer holiday. She said there are parades and concerts as part of the celebration. It is in the city of Victoria/Gozo.

Thanks a lot, Jeff for these explanations. I was in Malta also, and yes I think they are "heavily catholic", probably as a legacy of the famous "Knights of Malta Order" who owned the island before the Brits took it, apparently without converting the inhabitants to Anglicanism .... However, what I wish I could understand is why, how, what are the reasons why these Maltan people seem to be so "heavily" involved in shoulder riding ?????? It's absolutely amazing, and wonderful, but I don't understand how it happened ???
Maybe you could ask your Maltan friends about that, Jeff ?

Jeff, you say green and white are the official colors, but in must of the clips the people wear green T-shirts. Are the various colored people members of different teams of some type? Is there maybe a traditional type of match between the parts of the town or from different villages?

My friend from Malta restated that blue (with white) is the official color of the festival, and did not know about the green shirts or why. My friend does not think it is team-related in any way.

I've seen that our member blacky is from Malta: Do you have any further information about festivities and events in Malta where people use to get on shoudlers blacky? I would especially like to know the names and dates of those events.
