If, like me, you love a good ride it can get frustrating that a good pair of shoulders is not always available. For me, the summer is always the best time of year as a BBQ usually provides an opportunity for a shoulder ride- and music festivals!
What situations do everyone else think are good for a ride? The beach? A night on the town? Sport events?

I think in a concert is the best situation for a shoulder ride, you can end up with a totally strange but really hot girl in your shoulders...

Inside your house would work well if you have to reach things- just remember to hide the ladder or any step stool!

I have used this method, deleberatly replacing perfectly good light bulbs and replacing them with duds then moving anything such as stools or steps .

Oh that's funny, but verry good, I'd certainly be the type to try this. This happened without planning once!; i was going through a house that was to be demolished, with a female friend, she wanted to get some light globes from the ceiling and asked for a piggy-back, this made no extra height than i could reach myself. Then i offered a shoulder ride, so she agreed, we found a corner to hold on to for balance, then she got on straight away. I was worried about balance so also held the corner, usually i would use my arms / hands to push down on my knees as i stand, so without this assistance, was only just possible to lift her [without any warm-up exercise] She could then easily remove the bulbs. I walked over to another light without instruction where she removed another. THen i put her down [stupidly, i could have gone through the house more first] there was no thanks that i can remember, but that's fine, as i like being physically used like this.

I think even in your own home or a friends home, if you propose a shoulder ride in a proper way it'll be no problem. For example if you come with some smart solutions like "could you help me take down a thing on top of the shelf, and it would be better if you could lift me instead of viceversa". I'm sure a majority of people would help gently (70% maybe ?! ), if you ask kindly without revealing your interest in riding on her/his shoulders. I think it matters alot how you show your attitude towards in this case "shoulder riding"in others' eyes, it's about asking in a neutral way as if it was a normal thing! ![]()

I got a shoulder ride by hiding any furniture that looked strong enough to stand on, then asked one of my mates to give me a bunk up so I could test a smoke detector,
while I was mounted I had to ask him to stand on his toes at which point I was able to reach and press the test botton ![]()

The smoke detector is a good one. A used to live in a really old flat with high ceilings- luckily for me my flat had no ladder and a chair was little assistance to changing the light bulbs or checking the smoke detector. Used to have to climb up onto my friends shoulders and then he would have to stand on the chair, he never used to mind as he went to the gym regularly and I think he liked the challenge. Having large posters on the walls which required a boost to reach the top corners was always a plan- and never a problem when the fell down!

I usually carry my wife on on concerts, so i think its one of the best situations for a shoulder ride. Also picking apples from tree is good situation offer a ride.

She must like being shoulder carried or she would still avoid being shoulder carried. I am familiar with one that strongly dislikes being shoulder carried. She even gets upset if I even talk about her.
Consider yourself lucky that your wife likes to shoulder ride you and you love to shoulder carry her.
