STRONG SEVEN YEAR-OLD
    We often have a bunch of kids running around our house, and this one day, we had five or six of them running around, three of whom were girls.  They were different ages, 9, 7, and 6, but all playing together.  I forget exactly when this happened, but it was earlier this year, and I think it may even have been before Jack started coming around again.
    So, these kids are over, and at one point while I was sitting in the TV room with Nicole, the three girls were playing around near us.  Out of the blue, I quietly asked my wife, “Do you think any of them could pick you up?”
    She said, “What??”  She was very surprised I asked her this.  I had never really considered little girls picking up my wife, and apparently, she hadn’t either.  And she seemed skittish about it for some reason.  I had to ask her two more times again before she knew I was serious.
    She was like, “Really?  You want to see if they can pick me up?”  I said, “Yeah, let’s see.”
    This took a little prodding.  Nicole then said, “I don’t think they can.”  I said, “Okay… well, let’s see.”
    So my wife got off the couch and called the three girls over.  She said to them, “Mr. Greg doesn’t think any of you are strong enough to pick me up, and I said you are.  So, who wants to show him how strong you are.”  Very simple.  And the three girls lined right up to give it a try.
    First in line was the 9 year-old.  She was a tall, thin girl, who didn’t look particularly strong.  She squatted down, wrapped her arms around my wife just below her butt, and gave it a good try.  My wife went up to her tippy toes, but didn’t leave the ground.  The girl was giving it everything she had, but she just wasn’t getting Nicole into the air – but it was very close.  My wife was actually very impressed that she almost did it.
    Second in line was the 7 year-old.  This girl was shorter, she didn’t come much above my wife’s belly button, but looked like she was built a little sturdier than her older friend.  This girl faced my wife, and squatted down almost as if she knew what she was doing.  She wrapped her arms around my wife’s thighs much lower than the 9 year-old did, and wrapped up my wife’s legs so tightly that my wife made a “surprised” noise, like “oooooh.”
    Then this girl stood up, and she lifted my wife right off the floor.  And she didn’t just lift her, she lifted her up smoothly and fast.  This girl looked like she could have lifted another 30 lbs.  And a strange thing – my wife was silent.  She didn’t make any noise at all, and usually she does.  I think she just couldn’t believe she was off the ground, like this must be a trick or something.  She was just sitting there, feet dangling in the air, no noise at all.
    And this little girl seemed like she wanted to show off a little more, and she just stood there holding my wife up off the ground.  It must have been a good 7 or 8 seconds before she put her down.  And again, my wife didn’t say a thing.  She just turned to the 6 year-old and said, “Okay, your turn.”  It was almost like she didn’t quite accept what just happened.
    So, the 6 year-old gave it a try, and this little girl did pretty well, too, grabbing my wife the same way as the others, and getting my wife right up to her tippy toes, just like the 9 year-old did, but she just couldn’t quite get my wife off the ground, either.
    Then the 9 year-old, mad that the 7 year-old did better than her, asked my wife to try again.  Nicole let her, and this time the 9 year-old got my wife barely into the air, sort of with her toes just skimming the ground.  And my wife would have been impressed with this…. But there was this 7 year-old.  My wife called the 7 year-old girl back over, and said, “Let me see you do that again.”
    The girl squatted down again, grabbed my wife tightly halfway down her thighs again, and gave a good lift.  And again, my wife came right off her feet.  This girl picked her up so fast, that my wife even got tossed up a little at the top.  It was really unbelievable.  And again, my wife was totally silent.  I looked at her feet, and they were just dangling there, straight down, maybe 7 inches off the floor.  The girl was showing off again, and just held my wife there for what may have been 10 seconds, until my wife finally started tapping her on the shoulders, saying, “Okay, down.”  When she did that, this girl turned halfway around, taking my wife with her, and took a couple of steps with her.  This freaked my wife out - for some reason, she did not want to be carried.  She said louder, “Down, down, down!!”  And the little girl set my wife back down onto her feet.
    The 6 year-old didn’t try again.
    This was absolutely amazing to me.  And it even made me feel a little better about telling you guys my own story from when I was 5 years old and picked up my neighbor.  It showed me again that people that young can pick up adult women.  I wasn’t sure if you guys would believe me about doing that when I was 5 years old, but since I saw a 7 year old girl do it to my wife, I figured maybe this stuff happens more than I thought.
    Now – to my wife making no noise when she got picked up by this girl, here’s the deal on that…..
    My wife later told me that she did not like getting picked up by this little girl – which was incredibly surprising to me.  She said she felt very different than when she’s gotten picked up by little boys.  With young boys, at least there’s some sort of male-female dynamic, even though she’s clearly not attracted to them.  But when she gets picked up by a boy, even if he’s little, you know…. It’s okay.  She thinks, “He’s a boy, he’s strong.  I’m a girl, I’m light.  It’s weird that he can do it, because he’s so little, but hey… he’s a boy.”
    Totally different to her with young girls.  There’s some sort of competitive thing with girls, or hierarchy, where my wife almost felt like she lost her authority a little bit by getting picked up by this little girl.  On the other hand, with her older girlfriends, she doesn’t feel anything like this.  She likes getting picked up by them.
    So, I asked her why she asked the girl to pick her up a second time if she didn’t like it, and she said she just couldn’t believe she did that the first time.  She was totally amazed, so it was part curiosity, but also, she thought this girl might not be able to do that again, and my wife would regain a little authority.  Of course, then the little girl went and picked up my wife even more impressively the second time, even carried her a bit.  So….. in the hierarchy of things, I guess now that makes my wife this little girl’s bitch!!
