Better quality for Youtube clips
If you use Firefox you can download much Youtube clips in better quality now.
You need the Firefox add-on Greasemonkey. (In Firefox: Extras > Add-ons > Load add-ons > search fon "greasemonkey" > Add to Firefox)
Now go to http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/23426
and click "Install this script".
If this is done you have above all clips an Youtube a button "Download". If you click this button and choice "Save to harddisk" you can save this clip not as FLV but as MP4 (H264 codec). This clip is in better quality then the FLV you can see in the browser (provided that the original clip is in good quality).

If Greasemonkey is active in the lower right corner of the Firefox window you can see a monkey face. Right click on this face and see if the script "YouTube HD Video Donload Linker" is active for "http://*.youtube.com/*" and for "http://youtube.com/*".

I'm not a Firefox user but if this really works it is a very useful script indeed.
Perhaps you could show us an example? Download a shoulder riding clip from Youtube with the script, upload the clip here (I enabled mp4 extension in the upload section) and give us the link to the original Youtube page.

Hi,
To download Youtube videos in mp4 format you can use Keepvid:
http://keepvid.com
Copy the link of the page, select Youtube on download option, and you have the option "mp4" to download videos.

@ Nick
I will do so, but the Videos section is unavailable to time.
@ Gossbo
I'm not sure, but I think this side do only convert the FLVs.

There is still a problem. After uploading I recive an error message "Not allowed, Shoulder ride piggyback.mp4(video/mp4) is not a video clip."

Sorry about that, it should work fine now... Try again.

I've uploaded 2 examples:
pınar altuğ omuzlarda mucizeler gecesi.mp4 comes from
http://ru.youtube.com/watch?v=QxGZsC6pWJc
Shoulder ride piggyback.mp4 comes from
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FFEElLwz0dc
I think the better quality is clearly to see.
BTW: Why is the sorting in the Videos section wrong? One of this 2 clips is sorted on top of the list, the other at the bottom. That makes it difficult to see if someone has add a new clip.

Thanks. I cannot play back the mp4 files (probably a missing codec) so I cannot confirm this myself but the file size of at least one of the clips is double the size compared to the flv file (although not in HD quality) which could mean that the quality is improved.
Yes, the files are shown in reverse order in the video section, perhaps because of the file name of one of the clips which the php script on the server cannot handle. I renamed that just to make it more easily readable.
