Boots
Summer is truly drawing to a close, and autumn has arrived with cooler temperatures?which means the wonderful boot season is slowly making its return. They keep women?s feet nice and warm?a delightful sight, especially when they embrace a well-shaped calf and a shapely leg.
Whenever I see this, the same thoughts cross my mind. I often wonder: what might that foot?that stocking?smell like when the boots are taken off at the end of the day? That blend of fresh perspiration and fine leather? If I observe such an attractive leg for a while?discreetly, of course!?perhaps crossed while on the subway or a bus, then close my eyes, focus, and slowly inhale through my nose, I can actually perceive that wonderful scent. It works even better if the boots resemble riding boots. That?s when other fantasies begin to stir?perhaps not immediately, but soon enough.
I even find myself envying the leather of those boots, which gets to stay so close to such alluring feet all day long. In moments like these, I wish a fairy would appear and shrink me down to a tiny size, so that I could crawl right inside one of those boots.

Then, my fantasy takes an unexpected turn.
I find myself contemplating the leather with a strange sense of envy. This material, seemingly inert, enjoys, for hours on end, a proximity I can only imagine. It adapts to every movement, follows every step, and remains there, enveloping the foot in a silent intimacy. What an extraordinary privilege my imagination bestows upon such an everyday object!
A tiny fairy appears before me, dressed in golden leaves, with transparent wings. Her smile reveals that she knows my secret. Without a word, she waves a crystal wand, and the world begins to grow all around me. Floor tiles transform into immense stone slabs; fallen leaves become the size of ship sails; and the footsteps of passersby resound like distant thunder.
In a matter of seconds, my body is reduced to just a few centimeters in height.
Rising before me is a riding boot, tall and majestic, its leather surface reflecting the soft, fading light of the afternoon. The seams look like paths traced by gigantic hands, and the opening at the top becomes the gateway to an unknown world. I approach slowly, marveling at the shift in scale. What was once an elegant accessory now appears as a warm, fragrant tower, a small universe whose interior remains hidden.
I come to a halt before the colossal boot.
From this new perspective, even the smallest detail takes on extraordinary significance: the raised texture of the stitching, the curve of the leather, the deep, rich scent of the material, and the subtle traces left behind by use. I imagine a sanctuary where the outside world is reduced to a distant murmur, where light filters in from above, and the entire universe seems concentrated within a space of just a few centimeters.
The fairy watches me, amused, as if she knows that it is not the size of the boot that has truly changed, but rather the way I perceive it. And I realize that my fantasy had never consisted solely of getting inside a boot. What I wanted was to discover how much mystery such a familiar object could hold when viewed from an entirely different world.
The tiny sorceress raises her wand once again.
But this time, I'm not sure if I want to return to my original size.

The second transformation left me completely dumbfounded.
The fairy had waved her wand once more, and this time the enchantment did not merely reduce my size. My body had become immaterial. I could look at my own hands, but they seemed to have a strange consistency, as if they were made of mist under the moonlight. When I tried to lean against the back of a seat, my fingers passed right through it, meeting no resistance.
The real test came a few seconds later. A man made his way through the passengers and walked straight through me. He felt nothing; he didn't even pause. A woman did the same, and then another person. To all of them, I simply did not exist. I was invisible, intangible, a shadowless spectator in the midst of a world that continued on its indifferent path.
"Now you shall be able to behold that which you desire so much," the fairy's voice whispered in my memory. "But remember: being invisible does not mean you have ceased to belong to this world."
Before I could ask what she meant, her presence vanished.
That was when I saw her.
Sitting a short distance away was the owner of those boots, a woman whose presence seemed to fill the surrounding space. She carried herself with the upright, confident bearing of an Amazon, accustomed to mastering a horse with a blend of elegance, strength, and absolute self-assurance.
She wore an impeccable riding outfit: beige jodhpurs that formed subtle folds at the knees, a white blouse knotted at the waist, and black leather gloves that fit her hands perfectly. Her hair, pulled back into a neat ponytail, revealed a beautiful face with well-defined features and a serene expression. There was a natural quality to her movements that required no grand display to be noticed.
Yet, my eyes kept returning, again and again, to her boots. They were black, tall, and crafted from polished leather, with a firm shaft that rose along her calves, integrating perfectly into her equestrian attire. The metal spurs, fastened near the heels, would occasionally catch the light, creating small, silvery flashes whenever she moved her feet.
Then, she crossed her legs.
The gesture was simple, almost absent-minded. One boot descended, while the other remained suspended in the air, clear of the floor. For a few moments, the horsewoman sat motionless, studying something in her bag. Then, without looking up from her reading, she began to gently move her raised foot.
The boot swayed back and forth.
The movement had a measured, unconscious rhythm, much like a branch swaying in a light breeze. The leather caught the light in dark, shimmering flashes, and the spur traced a small arc with every shift. Whenever she adjusted the position of her knee, the shaft of the boot would tilt slightly before returning to its original orientation.
I was mesmerized.
From my minuscule vantage point, these everyday movements took on an extraordinary dimension. I could make out the contours of the stitching, the curve of the instep, and the fine creases that formed in the leather as it flexed. The boot was no longer merely an elegant accessory; it appeared as a fine piece of equestrian craftsmanship, designed to accompany its owner on long days in the saddle.
The woman looked up, casting a brief glance at the landscape passing by outside the window. A gloved hand tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. Then, she returned to her reading, entirely unaware of the movement of her leg.
I, however, could not tear my gaze away from the scene.
My supernatural state allowed me to observe without being noticed, yet it also made me keenly aware of my own utter physical insignificance. That woman could stand up, walk about, or leave the vehicle at any moment, while I remained an invisible presence, suspended between her world and mine.
Suddenly, the horsewoman stopped moving her foot.
With a firm motion, she uncrossed her legs and planted both boots on the floor. The faint jingle of her spurs cut through the low hum of the transport. Then, she rose, adjusted her blouse at the waist, and picked up her bag.
Before heading toward the exit, she cast a fleeting glance in my direction.
Naturally, she could not see me.
And yet, for an instant, I had the unsettling impression that she had sensed something strange in the air.
I recalled the fairy's words: being invisible does not mean you have ceased to belong to this world.
The horsewoman began to walk toward the door, and I realized that my adventure had only just begun. I had to decide whether to remain a silent observer of this everyday universe or to find a way to discover what other possibilities the enchantment might hold.
The door opened.
A gust of autumn air swept into the vehicle, stirring her ponytail and making the black leather of her boots gleam one last time.
nd I followed her, invisible to everyone, into the unknown.

The fairy's second enchantment restored me to my normal height, but the first remained in effect: I was invisible and intangible. I could walk, move about, and observe everything around me, yet people continued to pass right through me, completely unaware of my presence. This strange state would persist for as long as the magic lasted.
The Amazon stepped down from the vehicle and ventured into the cool autumn morning. I followed a few paces behind, captivated by the elegance of her equestrian attire. Her hair, tied back in a long ponytail, swayed gently with every step. A white blouse, knotted at the waist, contrasted with her beige jodhpurs, a cut that accentuated her athletic silhouette and the robust proportions of her hips and thighs.
It was her riding boots, however, that truly caught my eye. Black, tall, and crafted from polished leather, they reached her knees, moving with her in a display of impeccable poise. Her spurs would catch the sunlight from time to time, while her heels tapped out a steady rhythm against the pavement.
I chose to follow from behind. From that vantage point, I could appreciate the harmony of her figure and the way her riding gear adapted to her every movement. She carried herself like someone accustomed to the sitting on saddle, a woman who seemed just as at ease in a stable as she might be on a bustling city street.
People were constantly crossing my path. A man walked right through my shoulder; a young woman passed through my torso while checking her phone. The experience remained unsettling, but I soon stopped dwelling on it. The enchantment had turned me into an invisible spectator of a reality that continued to unfold, entirely independent of me.
The Amazon paused before a shop window. As she examined the items on display, she shifted her weight from one leg to the other, bending one knee slightly. The leather of her boot creased delicately across the instep, and a spur jingled as she turned her foot.
I drew a little closer, intrigued by details I might once have only glanced at in passing. The stitching, the sheen of the material, the shape of the heel, and the sturdy structure of the shaft all spoke of meticulous craftsmanship. These were boots built to last, made to accompany their wearer through long days and retain their elegance even after hours of use.
Suddenly, she checked her watch and resumed her walk.
I followed her along a tree-lined street, where the first golden autumn leaves swirled around her boots. I then noticed that she was heading toward a quieter thoroughfare, moving in the direction of some stables located on the far side of a small square.
My curiosity was instantly piqued.
Could it be that the fairy had foreseen this destination as well. What other secrets awaited at the end of this stroll?
I quickened my pace so as not to lose sight of her. Invisible to the world, I walked behind this Amazon toward a place where leather, horses, and the crisp autumn air were simply part of everyday life.
And for the first time since the enchantment began, I felt certain that my adventure was about to become far more extraordinary.

As I crossed the entrance to the equestrian club, I realized I had just stepped into a world with its own rules, traditions, and ceremonies. The crisp autumn air carried the scent of hay, the wood of the stables, and the leather of the saddles. From the arenas came the sounds of neighing, the rhythmic thud of hooves against the sand, and the voices of instructors giving lessons.
I followed a woman with her hair tied back as she made her way along the main path. Her black riding boots clicked softly against the pavement, and her spurs caught the light whenever she passed through patches of sunshine. She greeted several people who seemed to know her, then headed toward the training arenas.
A fascinating scene was unfolding there.
Several riding instructors, dressed in impeccable equestrian attire, were working with their students. One woman, wearing a dark jacket and beige breeches, was showing a beginner how to keep her back straight and move in harmony with the horse. In another arena, an instructor was overseeing a trotting exercise, correcting the placement of the riders' hands and the coordination of their legs.
Each instructor projected a blend of authority and calm. There was no need for them to constantly raise their voices; a simple gesture, a precise instruction, or a quick demonstration was enough for the students to understand what was required.
Yet, what caught my attention most was discovering that, alongside the club's usual activities, there existed a curious, recreational tradition.
In a cordoned-off area of the facility, several participants were engaged in a game of balance and trust, which they called the "human ride." It was not a conventional equestrian discipline, but rather a playful, supervised activity, complete with safety mats and assistants on hand to prevent any falls. I saw an older man participating alongside his daughter and granddaughter, who took turns riding him during a carefully controlled exercise. Nearby, a man and his niece laughed as an instructor explained how to perform a simpler variation, with the niece riding him. In another group, several adults had paired up, a woman (the rider) and a man (the "horse"), to take on the same challenge.
The relationships among the participants were varied. There were couples, married pairs, friends, colleagues, and even in-laws. Some of the women had been practicing this form of riding for years, while others were visiting the club for the first time, discovering the activities on offer with great enthusiasm.
What was striking was that, during these exercises, the roles people played in their daily lives temporarily faded into the background. A boss might be paired with her subordinate, riding him; a wife might ride her husband; two friends might swap roles during a riding drill. What mattered most was mutual trust, coordination, and the ability to follow the instructors' guidance.
Laughter mingled with the instructors' directions, and more than one participant discovered that maintaining one's balance required far more skill than they had imagined.
I watched it all with growing astonishment.
Being invisible allowed me to move along the paths without drawing any attention, to stop by the fences, and to observe the various activities. The "horses" moved elegantly across the arenas, while the riders corrected their posture and adjusted the reins with expert hands.
Finally, I turned my gaze back to the woman I had followed from the transport.
She was standing by a stable, chatting with another rider. Both were wearing riding breeches and tall leather boots; the other woman wore a dark green jacket and held a helmet under her arm.
"Are you going to use your horse this morning?" her companion asked. "Of course," she replied with a smile. "Today, I want to work on some dressage exercises before heading out onto the trail."
Her response piqued my curiosity. Until that moment, I had seen her only as an elegant figure moving through the city; now, I was beginning to discover the athlete behind that commanding presence.
The rider opened the stable door and called softly to her horse.
The animal poked its head out, flicked its ears upon recognizing her voice, and stepped toward her. She stroked its neck with a gloved hand, exchanged a few words with the stable hand, and began preparing the tack.
I realized this was an opportunity to glimpse another facet of her world: the bond between a rider and her horse, a connection forged through patience, training, and trust.
And as I watched her carefully check the saddle, the girths, and the stirrups, I wondered what new surprises awaited me at that equestrian club, where every arena seemed to hold a different story.

The equestrian club lay behind a black iron gate, surrounded by trees that were beginning to shed their leaves. As we passed through the entrance, the horsewoman, unwittingly, led me into a world that seemed to belong to another era: a universe of leather, horses, spurs, and equestrian traditions.
I followed her across the main courtyard, where the sound of hooves striking the firm ground echoed, and the whinnying of horses mingled with the voices of the instructors.
In the outdoor arena, several riders were practicing at a walk and a trot. The instructors, dressed in elegant riding attire, moved across the sand, correcting postures and explaining how to hold the reins, maintain balance, and communicate with the horses through precise movements. Their tall boots sank slightly into the sand as they approached their students.
But the club also hosted a peculiar activity that piqued my curiosity.
In a designated area, some people were taking part in a recreational tradition in which men served as "human mounts" for women, a practice carried out entirely through consensual, pre-arranged scenarios between adults. I saw a father participating in this activity with his adult daughter and adult granddaughter; an uncle sharing a similar experience with his adult niece; and various pairs of friends and acquaintances taking turns with exercises in balance and coordination. There were girlfriends with their boyfriends, wives with their husbands, and colleagues, all of whom seemed to enjoy this unusual practice. The laughter and the guidance provided by the instructors made it clear that this was an organized activity, governed by established rules and boundaries.
I stood watching for a few moments, struck by the diversity of the scenes before me. The place combined the traditional discipline of horsemanship with recreational customs I never would have imagined finding under the same roof.
Meanwhile, the horsewoman in the black boots had disappeared through a side door leading to the stables.
I followed her. The atmosphere changed immediately. The air was thick with the scent of hay, wood, leather, and damp earth. From the stalls came the sound of calm snorts and the occasional thud of a hoof against the ground. Saddles rested on wooden racks, and several bridles hung neatly along the wall.
The woman walked with the confidence of someone who knew every corner of the facility. Her spurs jingled softly, and her boots echoed against the floor. She stopped in front of one of the stalls, opened the door, and stepped inside.
I waited, intrigued.
A few minutes later, she reappeared, accompanied by a man.
He was five to ten years younger than her, with an athletic build and a serene expression. He was dressed in attire suitable for the club's activities. The woman held a set of reins attached to a bridle worn by the man, part of the peculiar role-playing scenario I had witnessed earlier in the courtyard.
The man walked alongside her, clearly accustomed to the arrangement. She held the reins in one hand, chatting with him with complete ease as she guided him toward an open area of the stable.
I kept my distance, trying to grasp what was about to unfold.
The woman stopped beside a wooden pillar. She carefully inspected the bridle, ensuring all the straps were securely fastened. Then, she looked at the man and asked a question I couldn't quite hear. He nodded in response, and they exchanged a smile.
It dawned on me that I wasn't witnessing a conventional riding lesson, but rather an activity centered around adult role-play.
The woman adjusted her black gloves, took a firmer grip on the reins, and turned toward the indoor arena.
"Let's go," she said, her voice calm and decisive.
The man followed her. I followed them, still invisible, with the sense that this club held far more stories than one could imagine from the outside. And as the autumn light filtered through the high windows of the stable, I wondered what this strange tradition might reveal about the people who practiced it, and about the woman who, from the very first moment, had captured my fascination.
