Does this happen to anyone else?

Dear members,

I would like to wish us all luck in this group..

hopefully as I mentioned in the other group before,I hope to  have as much success there ,as we do in this new group of ours..

A couple of things I just want to mention...

most importantly..sometimes when I am trying to add a picture,I get an error saying something about my photo and it's large size..In other words,it is too big to be put in this group..

I did not know that it will not take a larger picutre..To be honest,so far I think 17 or 18 photos I have that cannot be put up..I tried and tried over and over..

anyone else with this prblem?I never read anything from anyone about it..

also, will be we able to detect if we are putting up a repeated photo?

Just asking on this..

I hope to see a reply to both my questions..

Thanks guys..

Re: Does this happen to anyone else?

There seems to be a problem with large pics. Look to the thread "old bonus members". The only way to upload this pictures seems to be to scale these pics down.

Re: Does this happen to anyone else?

Hi Vaggelli,

The problem that you describe is what I have analysed today actually. I have no solution to this right now and it seems to be on the root server level (only the server provider can change this).

It seems that the server does not always accept pictures above 3.2 MegaPixels in size. I have seen pictures of 3.9 MegaPixels going through without problems while pictures of 3.6 MegaPixels have not. Not sure why.

Please observe that this has nothing to do with the file size in MegaBytes. A picture can be 1 MB but still having no problems while another picture of 500 KB does not get through. The differences in file sizes have to do with the resolution, the content of the picture and the quality setting in the compression.

So, please check your pictures. If the size is, for example, 2400x1800, then the total size becomes 4.3 MegaPixels, resulting in the error message. If you resize the picture to, say, 2048x1536, it will most likely get through successfully (3.1 MegaPixels).

If you encounter errors or know that the size is too large, you can use this utility (free): PixResizer, http://bluefive.pair.com/pixresizer.htm (New Window) (it's very easy to use)

Re: Does this happen to anyone else?

Yes, this seems to be a problem. I will try to see if the link of Nick helps me resizing pics quickly otherwise the uploading of a bigger amount of (large) pictures would mean an enormous time effort!

To your other question Vaggelli: as I did in smartgroups I will also take care of picture repeats and delete all those who I am sure of having seen in this community before.

Regards,

Louie
